under 11s soccer match-

watching his brother, the twelve year old
mixes swear words and praise

between cigarette puffs
the 12 year old tells me
he is more talented than his brother

damp fields-
the 12 year old swaps his cigarette
for a bag of toffees

almost game over-
lining the sidelines
kids with lollies, toffees and cigarettes

father and daughter
on an early morning walk
by the beach -
how quickly the tide
takes away their footprints...
