Shawn Lindsay studies anthropology at Indiana University, where he is currently wrapping up a thesis on the expression of sociability in Chichewa, and preparing to launch dissertation research on aspects of jazz improvisation. Shawn began keeping a haiku (and haibun) journal in the Fall of 1992 as part of a series of experiments to arrive at a descriptive poetics of the experiential world. After an initial flurry of exploratory-- and often awkward-- writing, he has struck a groove that allows him to record his little epiphanies as they appear, without too much worry about style. His haiku have appeared in many journals, such as Woodnotes, Modern Haiku, Tidepool, and ant, ant, ant, ant, ant.
